Chart: US 10-year note yields

Posted by Kathryn Rubin on November 19, 2009

Again, we note that US Dollar 10-year note yields are trading up against important support after having traded in a very constricted range for months. No even risk suggests a dramatic move here, but certainly an interesting level to watch as an indicator on overall risk appetite if yields are able to drop through this level (this suggests more concern than we are seeing in other asset markets like stocks and commodities at the present time). This is especially important, as always, for JPY crosses.

  • Impressive commentary about seo. I’m honestly incredibly dumfounded that that has not been said earlier to such an extent.

  • First off nice site. Im unsure if it has been addressed, however when using Opera I can never get the entire blog to load without refreshing alot of times. Maybe just my computer. Enjoy!

  • I have read this website for some time and wanted to say how much I enjoy it. Great job.

  • The GPBUSD price tested the 1.6144 resistance target and reversed. The pair is back down, looking to test the 1.6101 low for the day. A break below will target lower levels with the 1.6088 low for the week and the 1.6076 low from last week as the obvious next targets. Longer term a more substantial move lower can not be ruled out given the break back below the 200 day moving average today.

  • YES! Great piece, keep up the terrific work. This is the type of information that should gain recognition for it’s craft. More writers should learn from you. This is right on the money.

  • You know, for the past couple of years or so, I have heard so many supposedly smart and connected people say, uh, “It’s almost impossible to recognize a bubble when you’re in it” when the subject of our last el-grande bubble of real estate comes up. You know, the housing bubble I recognized in maybe ‘02, that 90% of others were ‘blindsided” by, including geniuses like Greenspan, Bernancke, 99% of the banks in the WORLD, rating agencies, investment houses, insurance companies, 75 % of the American public, and, of course, Fannie/Freddie, the black hole for the right side of my pay stub. But, for the past almost year, I’ve heard many smart and connected people tell me that the safety of bonds and bond funds are in a bubble. They were in a bubble last summer, and they are more than certain about that, it seems.

  • I really don’t understand what people mean when they talk about a “bubble” in the bond market. Bonds aren’t tulip bulbs. Why not just say that interest rates are pretty low right now, and it seems that interest rates are more likely to rise than to fall in the near to intermediate term? “Just check the duration. That’s a technical term that’s the best measure of a bond’s inflation and interest-rate risk.”

  • Every time I see blogs as good as this I KNOW I should stop surfing and start working on mine!

  • I have made it through some of your blog and so far so good. I’m still a little lost on the subject, but plan on saving it to my favorites and coming back. I have found several other sites and am trying to consolidate them all so i can compile a list of resources.

  • Simply want to say your article is as tonishing. The clearness in your post is simply spectacular and i can assume you are an expert on this subject. Well with your permission allow me to grab your rss feed to keep up to date with forthcoming post. Thanks a million and please keep up the gratifying work.
